Will educating young boys make any difference on how women are treated in a society?

Absolutely yes, educating young boys can make a meaningful impact on how women are treated in society. If boys are taught from an early age about respect, equality and empathy towards women, it helps shape their beliefs and behaviours as they grow into adults.

One of the key aspects of educating young boys is promoting gender equality. By teaching them verbally and practically that women are equal to them in every sphere of life. When the boy from a young age is treated better than his sister or his any female family member, automatically the thought of him being superior will come to his mind. That's why families need to raise their sons in a same way they raise their daughters because a kid learn from his surroundings. When boys understand and respect the rights and dignity of women they are more likely to treat them with fairness and equality. It is the time to break stereotypes and biases that lead to gender discrimination and mistreatment with women.

Our practical NGO "NooRii" did an orphanage drive related to this specific topic. There, we taught young boys about women rights and empowerment through different activities. Through the game truth and dare, get to know about their thoughts and we also engaged with them in a fun way in order to teach themrespect and tolerance towards women & girls.

All in all educating young boys can play a significant role in shaping better behaviours.

During an orphanage drive in summer this year, our founder & president; Arfa Naeem explained the fundamental concept of equality that everyone, regardless of gender, deserves  sameopportunities and respect. We discussed the challenges women face in society, from unequal treatment to issues of safety, and how understanding these struggles is the first step toward being an ally. Through interactive discussions, our team made sure the boys understood that gender equality is not just a "women's issue" but something that benefits society as a whole. We then delved into the concept of consent, a crucial aspect of any interaction, be it in friendships, relationships, or everyday life. Ayesha-our vice president, explained how consent means seeking permission and respecting boundaries, whether they be physical, emotional, or verbal. Educating young boys about women's rights is vital because they are in a formative stage where values are still being shaped. Early education on these issues helps challenge ingrained stereotypes and prevent harmful behaviors from becoming normalized. By instilling these lessons now, we can foster a future generation that is more empathetic, respectful, and committed to equality. Teaching boys about women's rights and consent creates a foundation for them to grow into individuals who advocate for a fair and respectful society.
To create a more equitable and just world for women and girls, there in need to induce value of respect, equality and empathy early on in boys. Our young youth need to be aware and educated about the completely unjust norms and traditions of society that makes women life difficult and lead to gender discrimination. For more inclusive and respectful society in future let's work together to teach and empower nextgeneration.
